Getting to Moggiona
Flying
Major airlines including Easyjet, Ryanair and British Airways offer inexpensive flights from the UK to Italy.
We suggest you fly to:
- Pisa (2-2½ hours' drive from Moggiona)
- Bologna (2½-3 hours' drive)
- Forli (2 hours' drive)
- Rome (3-3½ hours' drive)
- Florence (1½ hours' drive, but not served by major airlines)
Train
From the UK, the quickest way to reach Moggiona is to take Eurostar to Paris. From there, the Artesia TGV service runs to Milan and Turin. The Alta Velocità service in Italy connects Milan and Florence in only two hours.
Alternatively, sleeper trains run all year round between Paris and various Italian cities.
Arezzo (the nearest main line station to Moggiona) is on the Florence-Rome line, and many intercity trains stop there.
Poppi, the closest town to Moggiona, has a small station, with fairly regular trains to and from Arezzo. The journey takes about an hour.
Car hire
It is almost essential to have a car when staying in Moggiona, as buses to the nearest town Poppi are infrequent.
If you are flying, we recommend you hire a car at the airport. If you are coming by train, there is an Avis car hire office just opposite the train station in Arezzo.
