Il Cedro - still number one
December 2008
Over 20 years after we bought Casa Teresina in 1987, Moggiona's principal restaurant, Il Cedro, is still going strong and serving the best local food in the area.
Here is a review that recently appeared in the Guardian newspaper's Travel section:
"Homely yet sophisticated Tuscan food in a family setting. Mountain fare can be a bit turgid but this is wonderful: carpaccio of newly-picked mushrooms with lemon, pasta with hare sauce, guinea-fowl in marsala, fresh home made apple pie. Down-to-earth presentation; food to die for. We sampled about ten restaurants in and around the national park and this is head and shoulders the best."
Il Cedro has had excellent reviews in the Michelin and Veronelli food guides. It is also extremely good value, with a four-course meal with wine costing under €40 per person.
The superb food is prepared by Franca Tassini, with help from daughter Cristina on busy occasions, and served by her other daughter Mariangela.
The Tassini family also now run the recently renovated bar across the road. Mariangela's son Roberto serves a range of hot sandwiches in addition to drinks and ice creams.
