Moggiona lies 700 metres above sea level in the Casentino, the beautiful and unspoilt upper valley of the River Arno. The area around the village has been designated an Italian national park, because of its outstanding natural beauty. It includes a forest reserve with many attractive walks.
The village has two restaurants (plus bar), and there are many more in the local town Ponte a Poppi, only 10 minutes' drive away.
Most of the key Tuscan towns (Siena, San Gimignano, Montepulciano....) can be visited on day trips. Florence is less than two hours away, and Arezzo can be reached in under an hour.
